Energy Performance Certificates or EPC’s for short, are now compulsory for all residential properties being marketed for sale or to rent. They were introduced by the Government to help improve the energy efficiency of buildings. If you are selling or letting a home you now need a certificate by law.
EPC’s provide energy performance ratings for a home. The ratings range from A to G, where A is very efficient and G is least efficient. These help pinpoint areas that might be improved to assist with energy conservation and can help reduce excess carbon emissions.
Who requires an EPC? All properties that are being marketed for sales or lettings.
